  1. How do you feel about the side characters in Edens Zero? What other problems have you noticed in Edens Zero?

  2. no comment cus like you said holy cmon into the picture gave the side cast more screen time and great moments so i have faith in him he knows these characters he wrote em i doubt he will just stay there existing without doin somethin new with em so like you said this can be fixed

  3. Kinda agree. He did a great job with side characters in Fairy Tail compared to Eden's Zero while he focused more on the Main characters in Eden's Zero.

  4. I agree with the whole side characters not getting much time to develop with the main characters. But it has improved in this arc. about Homura. Yes she’s constantly grieving because she’s a tragic character. In almost each arc there’s someone close to her that dies & so whenever she tries to push forward the ‘death’ holds her back. But she still has her crew to help. I’m not sure what people expect. In this arc alone she spoke sense in to Rebecca telling her to focus on the mission regardless. Accepted her mothers death. Defeated the strongest DS & saved justice ‘slow’ ass from being killed by an osg. In my opinion her character is pretty much developed at least until she fights with shiki

  5. I never really cared about the side characters in general. So I don't really care about the side characters in edens zero

  6. I’m not watching the video because of Eden’s zero spoilers but one thing I think the author is doing wrong is character design. They are too similar to fairy tail sometimes and I wish their designs were more unique. Otherwise I love Eden’s zero probably more than fairy tail.

  7. I just feel like mashima should just slow down the pacing sometimes
To extend some fights or moments

Cause I feel like things have been going to fast sometimes. Like I was hyped for Hamura and justice vs acknowella, But that fight was over to soon. There could of been an interesting character dinamic between justice and homura or between all three of them, but the fight was too short for that.
I was also interested in acknowella's character and back story and how it relates to Elsie and planet lendard, but then she was killed off so soon. It was interesting that Elsie was the one to kill her but that "twist" felt like it went nowhere, even though it makes sense that she only did it to get rid of the dragons.

It seems like certain parts of the story are hurt by the quick pacing, well at least only in the current ark, I didn't feel this way about edens zero until this arc

  8. Laguna is definitely the best side character. His design is great and the fact that he became a crew member was a big surprise to me. Overall an interesting video, keep it up!

Will you do a video about… SPOILERS FOR NEW CHAPTER

…Ziggy's death in the latest chapter? Any material that sums up his story and stuff like that?

  9. Also now that Ziggy has been dealt with will you make a in-depth video about him depending on what more we learn about him and the true enemy?

  10. I was just thinking something similar. The side characters just don't really do much for me. I can't bring myself to care about what they're doing if it's not with the main cast. Especially in an arc like this where big revelations are happening around the main cast. Literally, if any of the crew died outside of Shiki, Rebecca, Homura, and the shining stars were to die in this battle, I wouldn't even spare the panel an extra thought. I'm the type that can glom on to a good side character, so this has been disappointing.

Unless we get rid of some first I've got to disagree that more side characters should be added. I'd just like the existing ones to not feel like they're so far off to the side. I think the time skip kind of hurt them in that way.

  11. Personally imo mashima seems to hold onto character arcs and progession until it's most relevant.
Jinn for example didn't have much going on all the way up until his fight with Callum and subsequently his claim to the EZ and Shiki. Same thing again with Holy.

He did this same thing in Fairy Tail with characters like Elfman who remained in the background quiet until they had a moment to shine.

  12. We feel fairly close to the end (I think?) so I’m not sure it’s worth really expanding on these characters. Having an extended cast will generally leave many underused. This situation reminds me a lot of Dr Stone as the were exploring the World. The Americans had such a diversity of personality & skill set that really helped freshen up the story. But once they formally joined they added very little (minus Xeno & Stanley of course). At the same time the story was nearing the end so there was few opportunities for them to do so.

As a side note, I couldn’t get into Destiny 2 myself so I’m curious what got you invested. I don’t play many shooters but Destiny 2 looked fun so I wanted to enjoy it but lost interest quickly.

  13. I feel this way about the OSI and find it funny that none of them got a killing blow/defeated any of the OSG. With the defeat of the OSG I don’t know what Mashima is going to do with them.

  14. I have a lot to say:
1- it's very misguided to compare eden's zero to destiny 2 becuase videogames are not usually sold on thier stories and the main characters are dillibrately made to be bland and apeal to everyone so of course a random side character would be more intresting.

2- stories should be around the most intresting people in them not relgate them to the side. That's why in videogames that are sold on thier stories like the last of us and god of war the main characters are the most intresting ones. If your side characters are more intresting than your main characters thats a problem not a feature. One piece of writer's advice I always keep in mind is "Nobody wants to see your characters suckling on thier mother's tits your story should follow the most interesting character in their most intresting parts of thier story."

3- you are right that the side characters need some work and should be better but not all of them need it. I would consider the shinning stars as side characters (especially because if you count them as main cast then that means eden's zero has a main cast twice as big as the side cast on the ship) but they are obviously great. Nevertheless it is somewhat disappointing since fairy tail in my opinion had the best side cast of any anime or manga I've seen.

4- this is speculation on my part but it feels like Mashima is planning something big with Homura but the peices just aren't in the right place yet similar to how wiesz did practically nothing in the aoi war but on lendard he's character lized up the wazzoo and had that amazing conversation with Rebecca.

  15. I feel the problem is that it was being rushed not really anything else but I mean it already took long to make and break everything done so it kinda didn't really do much but I still there's still more on the way if he keep it going just not rush it take his time hit the important stuff I think it will be fine

  16. Hmm interesting thought. I like how put it actually. It's one of those rare moments where, if they were utilized just a slight bit more, the series would propel even further. He did side characters so well in FT and the side ones here aren't bad. Kleene, Jinn and Laguna all are great characters, but it felt like once their respective arcs ended or atleast semi concluded. They have kinda been left out. Now this has truthfully only began to rear it's head in this past arc. as in post belial gore and Aoi, Laguna, Kleene and Jinns stories were the forefront to the plot. The series isn't necessarily bad for not focusing on them as much so for right now I can forgive it as this arc is mainly about Shiki and Rebecca's past through timelines. but it definitely feels like a missed oppurtunity yknow? Like in FT I can tell you what each character in that guilds hopes and dreams are. FT did have the advantage of a longer series for more canon filler to flesh them out. but maybe like 3 ".5" chapters a volume would help flesh his characters out. especially since they are supposed to be part of the main cast but haven't been utilized as such. sorry for the long comment but your observation made me think about my thoughts on it as well

  17. For me personally, EZ is kinda good by the end of Sun Jewel arc and it really starts to pick up from Belial Gore arc to Foresta. It quickly went downhill from the Aoi war arc forward. There are so many problems with that arc that I can really express all (cause I'm not good at analysing). The main problems I have is that a lot of characters got horribly wasted! (So wasted and forgettable that I can't even remember their name)
    – The ocean 6 don't pose as much of a physical threat as The element 4 or even The mercenaries group in Foresta arc, they don't have any interesting character traits, they just act and talk very similar, except for the 2 soldier type characters but even themselves are similar. They never got really explored or has any depth. For example, the card girl likes to have fun even when she's in war, we never know why. She also told the supposedly shocking reveal that the Emperor strip her naked and took her eye, which also was never explored or even mentioned in later chapters. My biggest disappointment is the guy with hypnotic power, he was the most interesting when he's first introduced. I even had a theory that his power is everything mind-based since he mentioned "memory" a lot, he would encounter Kleene and make her remember all of her past traumas that Sister erased, forcing Kleene to truly overcome her fears and have character dev since I don't really like how the author dealt with her conflict. But even if removing my fan theory, he's still very disappointing nonetheless.
-Shura is a freaking mess of a character. The story drops hints everywhere about his character but never explored them at all. We see a lot of characters question "Why do you hate machine so much?!". And do we have a fully fleshed out backstory about that or at least of satisfying answer? No! Nothing! We don't even know how he became so evil and sadistic, he's not a Michael Myers type who is evil from the beginning bc we see in one of the flashbacks that he's just a pretty chill and cool child. And his sudden remorse at the end is sudden and makes no sense. And how TF did he unlock his Overdrive when all he does is hit on girls all day?!
    – We also don't know sh*t about emperor Nero, how he got the dice or the lore about it and how he was able to built his empire. We know he and Ziggy were Friends but we don't know how they met or WTF was Ziggy doing there. The story also seems to give hints about him and Jaguar sharing a long history as nemesises but it's also never elaborated. And also that Rebecca fanboy cat even tho was stated to be really strong, barely plays any roles in the story.
    – All of the OSI members and Elsie are the same as that Rebecca fanboy, they can be completely written out of the story and there will be zero changes. It is really disappointing cause I was hyped for some really insane battles with all of these strong characters but nope.

You might say that Drakken and Element 4's story wasn't explored either but the thing is The author wasn't trying to give hints about a larger story or make them look like interesting and complex characters. They are all pretty straightforward fun characters and all have distinctive characteristics, and they actually posed a threat to our heroes which is a lot more than I could say about Ocean 6.

There are also other things that I personally dislike like how everyone have power ups too easy, no character development for almost everyone, false premises, pacing issues and other minor issues but these are the ones that bothers me the most

  18. Feel like Fairy Tail had a problem with it's plot, but not really it's characters. Edens Zero feels the opposite. Feels like Edens Zero has a problem with it's characters moreso than the plot.
