  2. I like this song.I couldn’t forget this main melody since I heard this sounds .It gave me energy and a deeply emotional shock from heart.I often revisit it late into the night when I was feeling sorrowful to obtain a huge amount of energy.I love you, sakamoto, and hope you recover from diseases soon.

  3. Power of the pentatonic scale in action. One of the most memorable melodies in music history IMO.

  7. I first heard this song when I saw the movie while attending University. To this day I find this song, beautiful and haunting. My all time favourite soundtrack and movie. Ryuichi Sakamoto is brilliant.

  8. The voice buried deep inside everyone's soul has been excavated, exquisitely rendered into music, and played with perfection by Mr. Sakamoto.

  10. This song means "Merry Christmas at the battlefield" in Japan.
Spending Christmas in war. Just thinking about it makes me sad.

  11. I'm sure this is the og version of the song but I was first introduced to it through Utada Hikaru's version. I hear it played every once in a while in a café or something of the sort and I always obssesedly try to figure out what song it is, thinking it's an anime song for some reason 🥲 I've failed so far because it's not an anime song, but I'm glad I finally found it I know now why it sounded so familiar.

  12. There are so many little distinct Japanese motifs in this that are familiar for western Nintendo enthusiasts. I know some Irish trad musicians did crossover fusion work with Japanese traditional musicians. There is something so lovely about it, you can imagine being in the mountains of Japan.

  13. The Japanese figure skater Mai Mihara is skating to this piece this season; she interprets it beautifully. Great choice

  14. Your editor needs to complete the vid then post it. As gorgeous as it is…..your vid starts in the middle. Get a hold of me if you need further advice…(I'm no guru, but ya know what I mean). I'm sharin' your stuff around the world and the vid starts in the middle.

  15. One of the finest pieces of music ever written and played..love it – and the way Ryuichi plays is just magnificent and touches your soul.

  17. the most beautiful song i've ever heard in my entire life, the pure emotion that it exudes is like a dialogue between two lovers perilously trying to pick up the pieces; It leaves me in goosebumps every single time. truly brilliant

  18. I saw the movie Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence in Paris in 1983. The music made the movie. Also, an underrated performance by David Bowie.

  19. My heart Breaks to learn about your health. You have given us the opportunity to transport with your music. I will pray God no only for healing but for you to find Jesus. God bless you.
