  1. Vueko's death is so tragic yet so beautiful. Not realizing how special she really was she assumed that she hollowed like everybody else. She didn't even consider that Irumyuii treasured her so much that she kept her human all these many years. So she walked carelessly up, not realizing the force field was seeping in the place that used to be protected from it. She then receives a brutal reminder of her adopted daughter's love through proof that she protected Vueko until she was no longer able to, that protection as something Vueko had taken for granted for many years.

  2. How come this transformation felt less traumatizing to see than the one from Mitty?

  3. Imagine Iru asking Vueko how she died, in like Heaven or something, and Vueko's response is just "I forgor" 💀

  4. When I first saw this in the manga I was pissed beyond belief, in such a short time I grew to love Vueko as a character and I wanted to see her make it through this so badly, but this scene just reminds you how dark and unforgiving the Abyss can be.

  5. My god this scene was so traumatizing it made me tear up

  6. I feel like for vueko death is a better peace rather than joining the gang, but not this kind of death. It is too painfull

  7. She doesn't seem like to went up a lot, in fact was just one degree, but even so she suffered the curse

  8. Literally watching her walk up the stairs was the most “NO STOP” moment in the anime. I was glued to the screen, I knew she wasn’t supposed to be doing that. All the damn time “STOP BEING SO CARELESS YOU’RE STILL HUMAN”.

Unfortunately, apparently Vueko didn’t think she was… She didn’t think Irumyuui treasured her so much to keep her from becoming a Hollow. This wasn’t a mistake made by foolishness, but because of a terrible misunderstanding.

This gives a whole new meaning to “lack of self esteem”, the whole anime is centred around value, and people like Vueko, who don’t put much into their selves, often look over how much they mean to other people.

Thank you, Made in Abyss, for shredding my heart not once! Not twice! BUT THRICE. Mitty, Prushka and Vueko. Truly wonderful characters.
