Of the many, many, MANY great scenes in this special (basically all of them, lol) this may be my favourite On top of the great fight scene and superb animation, the complete shift in MK’s demeanour really changes the tone of the scene, fighting and speaking more savagely to the point you’d almost think HE was the villain! Gave me the same vibes as when Goku first went Super Saiyan, with the hero deciding that mercy is now off the table in addition to the power boost.
Jack DeSena’s voice acting really added to it, and his delivery of “oh there’s nothing mindless about me, ‘friend’” gave me chills Guys really flexing his vocal range this season between Ink Mk and Monkie MK.
The first time I watched this and heard him speak, I had to rewind because it sounded like a completely different voice actor or something but no! Man he was so badass in this scene!
For those who are curious, the original "Journey To The West" story had a non-canon spinoff involving another monkey like Wukong who is his son. And his companions are either direct descendants of the original companions or student of the companions.
I may be misremembering though. But I think they're gonna use that story for MK's backstory (since he never had one until season 4, and is heavily teased)
