“The Loneliest Girl” is about how Carole and Tuesday saved each other, in a way, by just meeting. They’ve lived their entire lives having a love for making music in a dystopian world where AI produces most of the culture and people are happy just being consumers. Finding someone that finally understood that passion was liberating.
This track plays at the beginning of the Carole & Tuesday trailer and in “Episode 1: True Colores” of the 2019 spring anime. This is the first time the girls perform together, harmonizing Carole’s melody and then gradually adding in Tuesday’s lyrics. In the following episode “Born To Run”, they play the song in an empty auditorium as one of the employees records them and posts the song on the internet—which helps them start to gain an audience.
