Vinland Saga is initially set mostly in 1013 AD England, which has been mostly conquered by the Danish King Sweyn Forkbeard. As King Sweyn nears death, his sons, Prince Harald and Prince Canute, are arguing over his succession. The story draws elements from historical accounts of the period such as The Flateyjarbók, The Saga of the Greenlanders and The Saga of Eric the Red.

I really just hope Canute doesn’t change and makes a better king than his father so what Askalad did wasn’t a waste he cut his hair so I hope he’s not a warrior. It looks great I can’t wait for this thorfin is so old now too I wonder how long it’s been,thorfin was probably made a slave when he got dragged out the hall after attacking Canute

The visuals, the animation, the feeling is a lot better, they really have done a great job, this season will be incredible, I like this arc a lot, have seen the manga, from here the series just keep getting better and better, MAPPA, Wit Studios is doing a great work, the tendance is to get better and be one of the best anime of the year again!!!

Yes, that was Canute. He got hard.
That was Canute at the end because of the scar on his cheek that thorfinn gave him at the end of last season.
As a manga reader I can say this is easily one of the greatest arcs in anime/manga of all time. Thorfinns character development is also one of the best character developments of all time in fiction.
if you don't know (or remember) which canute is, just look at the scarf on his face that thorfinn made in the last episode. 😀
The guy sitting is indeed the king as you said aka Canute cause he has the scar under his eyes from when Thorfinn slashed him.

I continued reading the manga after season 1.
Man yall are not ready.. everything after season 1 is some big boy stuff and the topics are so damn heavy. One of the best things I’ve ever read and can’t wait to see it adapted in the anime

Before i watched vinland saga i had heard thorfinn is one of the best protagonists ever and when i watched s1 i was so disappointed as i saw a shallow annoying character but after reading this arc he's become one of my favorite protagonists and realized that thorfinn being annoying in s1 was very much intentional
Thorfinn becoming a slave kind of makes sense since he attempted to murder Canute on S1. Canute didn't order his execution, but he couldn't exactly get off scott-free.

vinland saga is not about revenge, I think people have not understood what the manga is about, the series deals with issues such as letting go of feelings of veganness and finding a place in the world. It is a spectacular manga , they are going to hallucinate for better or for worse because this arc hardly has any action fights type
