I know next to nothing about Horizon Zero Dawn, it’s a complete blind playthrough and will be followed up with the sequel Horizon Forbidden West.

I say you should get as many side quests and other activities finished as you can before progressing the main story. Even if you managed to complete all the optional stuff before going to Maker's End, there is still a good size chunk of game left after you finally do that quest and it will involve traveling to other places on the map. That said, be sure to keep an eye out for any unvisited settlements (ones that aren't fully white yet). There are still a couple of places that you've bypassed in traveling from East to West that have characters and quests to find. Finally, just so you know, this was another great episode!
As far as Janeva goes, I am not sure if she is concealing her gender, is transgender, or non-binary.
Actually the Tenakth were mentioned in one of the Glyphs you picked up before discussing the various faiths of the different tribes. As far as the Carja scholars are aware, only 5 other tribes have been discovered so far: Nora, Oseram, Banuk, Utaru, and Tenakth. Aloy has only met one Utaru (Honor the Fallen) and one Tenakth (Sunstone Rock) so far.

Look at it this way: Judging by what you can see on the map, if you override the last "Harold" and then make your way north from there, by the time you reach Maker's End, you'll have collected all 12 Vantage points, all 12 Cups, 5 out of 6 Banuk statues, at least 26 out of 30 Metal Flowers (if you don't go for the last 2 in the south first) and will have destroyed the last two Corrupted Zones. Plus, who knows what else you'll see along the way when the fog is lifted.

The side quests keep coming thick and fast. The anticipation levels for Maker's End are through the roof.

If you are curious who the Tenakth are and want to learn more about them, then I need to disappoint you because there are no more in Zero Dawn. There story will continue in the Forbidden West. So until the second game then.
If they don't want you to play all the sidequests, they shouldn't put so many in the game!
