I mean the whole world grows up admiring the USA with the massive propaganda we get from all the movies, TV shows, music, brands, capitalism, etc. when you grow up and mature you realise that they are just another country trying their best with a lot of flaws. At this point I see them as a third world country and I’m so glad I don’t live there 😂 I’m so happy in my country with free health etc
My old house had a brick driveway and we had to sand it often. Aka we picked out all the weeds and then swept sand into the crevices to keep them from coming back. I can't tell you if it's as much as a hassle I remember it being, only because I was five when I started helping and yardwork wasn't my favorite thing at the time!
i love how all your builds have so much character! seconds before you yourself said that houses tell stories i though that as well and how i really love when people build like that!
starter houses for the perfect nuclear family are nice but what about 3 stinky college dudes living there? what about a family that renovated the last time like 25 years ago and used elements that were in then but not now? (I watch a lot of Alexandra Gater and right now she's renovating her childhood home and talks about denim couches and weirdly shaped walls and its just… idk those things stay with you!!)
of course i love your lux builds as well, but they too are build with so much intention, i love it

My neighborhood has many houses with brick driveways. They are set in a mortar bed, so nothing gets through them and they don’t shift. And homely may mean ugly in the US and Canada, I love learning new things and never take offense when you use it. I’ve stopped using fanny to mean bottom too!

In my parents house,they have a garden and although the driveway is not brick, is individual granite slabs. they decided to plant some grass in between the slabs,and it looks absolutely amazing, ,but it requires lots of maintenance and a very specific angel of the weedwacker to cut.

To be honest… We in South Africa have brick paving for driveways. Yes there are weeds growing through. But we maintain it… It really is a good better option regarding a plain pavement of cement. But also a little expensive given the area you want paved.

How you can remember if the positive word is homey or homely, is when Marge Simpson calls Homer “Homey”, it’s usually in lovable situations. 😅 Hope you’re feeling better soon. Or at least that you know what it is. In many situations it’s usual that you only appreciate things when you don’t have it anymore, like a good health. I can’t even remember how it feels to have a good health, but indeed I appreciate the things I still can do. Health is important. Let yourself be pampered by James on bad days, it will do you good 😌
