The 2023 PlayStation showcase showed us a lot of new details about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Spider-Man 2 is going to have the black symbiote suit and it’s shaping up to look really crazy. Kraven the Hunter and The Lizard will both be in the game along with a playable Miles Morales Spider-Man. With a fairly expensive collector’s edition being announced for the game, which is actually available as of when I uploaded this, I wanted to talk about why I decided to pass on this version of the game. #gaming #spiderman #spiderman2

I don't even have a disc drive in my PS5. One of the main reasons I don't buy collectors editions for games (despite REALLY wanting to) is because I don't know if they'll have a digital code or not. If they don't that means I'll have to pay full price for a game that I just bought but can't play. At least if you get the digital code and no disc you can still play the game. I don't really see this as a big deal personally.

I will always prefer physical over digital if a game is garbage I can return the game and get my money's worth and not have to see it again. With digital they can remove it at any time and if the game is God awful then I'm forced to see that game in my collection at all times
You know I don't really know that buying the collectors edition is worth it to me because I'm not that type of person who collected well action figures and collectibles I would be one because of cool it looks but I don't know if it's worth it being a collectibles
One thing that I hoped we would get is an item from the actual game in physical form, like a gadget or a canister of the symbiote or just ANYTHING. Or maybe even a fuckin poster? Just SOMETHING! And they didn't even include the physical version? I mean, sure, the statue looks fucking awesome, but that's really it, and those additional suits look mid.

Talking about the statue, I don't think it does enough, like there's not enough going on to make it more dynamic, especially Peter who feels totally out of the action, it's like someone forgot that Peter needs to be a part of the statue, Miles is fine because at least he is interacting with Venom but I feel there is too much attention on Miles when Peter is the main character and the person that the symbiote will affect the most, I think it would have been much better a statue of the symbiote taking over the Spider-Man suit and Peter (inside the suit) with a intregue look let it happen, or maybe Peter trying to take off the symbiote suit, but I guess the developers really wanted Venom to be part of the statue

I have never been a huge fan of Collector’s Editions and Digital Deluxe versions of games. Honestly, unless you are giving me access to a ton of additional and unique in-game content and future DLCs then it’s really not worth the price for all of the other extra bells and whistles. Lmao.
I WOULD have bought it. But it’s like 200 dollars. Fuck that. If it was 125 or 150? Maybe.
I think the reason I ended up preordering it was just because venom is my favorite spiderman villain plus it was built in with the game. I wish I could get the physical as well but I'll probably end up buying it later when it goes on sale at best buy or something just to have

I have to agree. Its about how much money they can get and give you less. I remember the first collectors edition was only $150.00 and it not only came with a steel case which included a PHYSICAL GAME but it also included an artbook, a season pass, an artbook a statue and digital content. It was priced very well. Now with spider man 2 its missing a physical disc, an netbook and there is no season pass which we know this game will have a future DLC down the road and its 80 bucks more than the last one.

Everyone is so stuck on the fact that there’s no physical disk. But can we talk about the fact the we’re just getting significantly less thing for nearly $100 dollars more. Last collector’s edition gave us an art book, steel case, statue, early unlock, Spider-Man profile pic and theme, and three dlcs. Now it’s just a bigger statue the case and early unlocks.
They clearly did the digital voucher instead of the disc because they didn’t want to exclude the digital only PS5 owners from buying it. Of course the easy answer to that would be to have a disc version and digital version of the collector’s edition or just include both for $230. But I assume Sony just figured they could get away with not spending the money to do either.
If they’re not gonna add a disk for the collectors edition’s steel case. They could’ve just made the steel case a bonus for pre ordering the standard edition really.
Unfortunately, the least expensive PS5 is in fact the one that DOESN'T have a disc port in it. Which to me is even odd but it's out of my control. I prefer the physical games but I have grown to enjoy digital too. Mainly digital for Switch as the game carts are pretty small and your save data is usually locked to your Switch anyways.
I bought it the new collector's edition, but the first game came with way more physical stuff and was almost 100 bucks cheaper. Still weird it didn't come with a PHYSICAL copy of a game

this collectors edition reminds me a lot of the God of war Ragnarok collectors edition that a lot of people had problems with the no physical disk thing and personalty i'm not shocked or that upset i kinda got most of my frustration out on the Gow one but i still agree. But the thing that pissed me most about this was the lack of content for 230 dollars for a steel book and a cool ass statue .like the normal version of Gow Ragnarok had about as much content but was only 200 even the more expensive version was only 250 with a bunch more content . but i guess i am kinda stupid because i did pre order this already but i just needed to get my rant out
People are really underestimating the size of the statue. 19 inches, or close to 50 cm is massive. Though I still wish it came with an actual disc.
Who is a standard version buyer like me?
While yes physical games nowadays have to be downloaded most of the time it's downloading the data from the disc and installing it to the system so it will run properly. So even without the internet you can still use and play them at least that seems to be the case with most games I own. I know eventually the updates for the games will eventually no longer be available but at least you'll still be able to play some version of it in the future even if it lacks the updates.
The steel book is something to keep your weed in..lol
