In this Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5 gameplay news update video we breakdown and discuss how the symbiote suit gameplay & customization might work in the game. All of these details come from the recent Spider-Man 2 gameplay reveal. Last week was an exciting one as the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 pre order officially went live for both the collector’s edition & digital deluxe edition!
Over the last few weeks we have discussed the Marvel’s Spider-Man suits & customization details, who might be the real villain in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, & who might be the real Spider-Man 2 Venom after Insomniac confirmed that Eddie Brock will not actually be Venom but that it will be a fresh new take on the character. Possible candidates for main villain include: Venom, Kraven, Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, Lizard, Kingpin, & more!
Recently, we got a huge news update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 featuring new gameplay, story, suits, DLC, and release date details that were provided by the Insomniac Games during the Summer Game Fest. We got confirmation that the Spider-Man 2 release date is October 20th, 2023, that both Spider-Men have stories and missions in the open world exclusive to each of them, that they have new abilities: Peter with the symbiote and Miles with his evolved bioelectric Venom powers, when pre-orders will go live, DLC pre-order bonuses featuring two new suits, and that the Digital Deluxe edition will include 10 new Spider-Man suits (5 for Peter, 5 for Miles).
This information is coming off the heels of the new Spider-Man 2 PS5 gameplay trailer that debuted a few weeks back at the PlayStation Showcase. This gameplay trailer gave us our first great look at the symbiote suit (black suit) that Spider-Man will be rocking in the game. We got a great first look at Kraven the Hunter, the Lizard, and some of the other characters and villains that will feature in Spider-Man 2 (such as Black Cat, Wraith, Prowler, Shocker, and more). Additionally, we also got our first look at what the Spider-Man 2 gameplay switching between Peter Parker and Miles Morales will look and play like.
One of the most interesting aspects of the trailer was seeing how angry and aggressive the Venom Symbiote was making Peter and how that impacted the dynamic and relationship between Peter and Miles Morales. We are very interested to see how the Venom story will unfold in Spider-Man 2. How will Peter get Venom from Harry Osborne? Who will eventually end up getting Venom from Peter? Will it be Eddie Brock or somebody else? Nevertheless we can’t wait to get our hands on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and find out for ourselves!

I expect when they take it away the powers will just be replaced with the nanotech arms
I think we’ll do it new games plus or they can borrow a story thread for one of the cartoons were they invented a synthetic Symbiot we’re Spider-Man can use Symbiot powers without being controlled by it
i personally am ok with either extreme, and I actually am pushing for them to not compromise. I have full faith in Insomniac’s story telling abilities and i am confident that they could come up with a good reason for either extreme. I just think them half hazardly doing a compromise would make the least people happy because neither side would fully get what they wanted
I could see the black suit being a new game + reward or something along those lines.
I also hope they give miles the sybeote suit too
No one saying the obvious thing tho. They cant take the symbiote away from you after theyve given miles all this stuff. There has to be a reason to play as peter in the game. Taking his symbiote away makes miles leagues above him in interesting gameplay cause miles already has the better swinging animations and powers at this point. So taking the symbiote away would make peters character never get used cause there would be no reason to
There were leaks of a third playable character, so I think that what they could do is implement all of the black suit powers onto that character after beating the game or something similar.
What I'd like to happen is a Web of Shadows system for when you have the suit. You'll then lose it at some point for the rest of the story.Then maybe once the story is complete or in NG+, you can have access to the suit toggle from Mission 1.
My hope for suits is that each suit has a symbiote variant.
I think the most likely scenario is that the suit will be a menu toggle during free roam and NG+, but won't be as accessible as Web of Shadows.
That’s literally the only question that I have for this game. Will we be able to use the symbiote suit freely and after the main story in free roam? If we can, then all of my questions will be answered and I’m set for this game. If not, I’m going to be upset, that’ll be disappointing, but knowing insomniac, they will let us use it freely and after the main game. They wouldn’t do us like that knowing how much we love the symbiote. Insomniac won’t miss.

My idea is that once you beat the story they’ll add an options menu to send u back to an earlier save in your game, and you’ll be able to free roam in the black suit there. It’s an earlier save so it’ll send u back to a point in the story where Peter still has the symbiote.
The only story I can think of where you keep it is where venom comes first

I think that Miles’s new blue lightning is because the nuform because if you see when he tries to blow it in last misson his venom power becoms blue for a sec then return to orange
I feel like that Insomniac is really focusing on the symbiote in all their advertisement. I can't believe they would only give you the symbiote suit for a few main story missions and say that's it. not with all the hype they're trying to generate. I think they'll go for a similar to the Spider-Man 3 game on PS2 and I think it was on PS3 too. as far as customizing the symbiote suit I would love to use the symbiote suit from Spider-Man 3, but I don't know if they will go that way. I feel like we're asking for a lot a that point.
If the symbiote will only be playable in story mode and not unlocked after beating the game, that would be the worst decision ever by insomniac.
I have a feeling all the art is a red herring. I think venom will be pete and you will have to take him down as miles.

Regardless of how it works out in the end, at least it's safe to say that the symbiote's abilities will later be swapped for the iron legs.
Like Web of Shadows. I really we can switch between the symbiote and the traditional red/blue anytime we want.
I’m afraid they took a different, worse approach: the black suit is only more aggressive in animations, but the essential moves are the same as the red suit. In the gameplay demo, you really only see reskins of red suit gadgets (guy attached to car is like impact web, second attack launching goons is like anti-gravity gadget, group takedown is like AOE suit abilities). I hope there’s gonna be more expansive, creative combat than what we’ve seen.
What i think they'll do is much like the lighting system in the first game, they will lock it into the story which then decides when to give it to you and after you beat the main storyline, you get to use it freely

It’s my take, but I think we can toggle the red suit and black suit on/off coz, as you can clearly see on the top left of Peter’s health interface, just below that health interface, we can clearly see the red suit’s symbol, there’s no reason for Insomniac to put it there, maybe when we use the red suit, we’ll see the black suit’s symbol.
But yeah, it’s just my opinion!
If you can't use the symbiote as Peter, why would you ever play as him if miles have his venom lighting
I've been wanting a partnership with Venom.
Have it be like the anti ock suit when you get it for beating the Story so you can have it in after game and new game +

Utilizing Symbiote in NG+ would be a weird dynamic to the replay of the story
U can see that below Peter's health bar there's a spider which means u can toggle the suit on n off (miles doesn't have it)
No, for us using the Symbiot suit I think there’s two really good options that they can do. Number one is Mitch the end of the game kind of like a choosing thing that if you choose to do something you keep this imbued, and if you don’t choose some thing you get rid of the Symbian.
The other approach is they just change the storyline, and make Peter after he loses the Symbiot create another type of version of the Symbiot that is more controllable

People are getting too anxious, we'll be able to use Peter's "venom" powers just like we were able to use Miles' "venom" powers freely in the previous installation
I hope that every suit in the game has a symbiote variant. Some of them would be suits we’ve seen before (like Tobey’s which would be his venom suit) but some would be original suits created by Insomniac.
Dude the Black Suit’s gameplay is going to be way to fun to just give up, and the two things I hope for the most if they do remove it from Peter in the story, then here what could be done to make sure fans don’t have the loss of this suits gameplay.
1: Allow us to have it as an extra unlock for post game once the story is done.
2: (the better option) Playable Venom, and seeing how Ultimate Spider-Man mastered that in their game, I have faith insomniac could most definitely gives us something like this because the reveal trailer really felt like Venom would be a playable character.
Honestly i think theyre setting up Norman to be Venom for this game. And he'll end up dying while fighting Peter and Miles, which causes Harry to become Goblin for the 3rd game. At that point the symbiote will find Eddie Brock and Venom will return for either DLC setting up the next game or he'll just show back up in Spiderman 3. Im also curious about Tombstone. Peter turned him normal in the first game so i wouldnt be surprised to see him as Venom if its not Norman. He will want revenge and hates Spiderman more than most because of what happened to him. Kravens map doesnt show him in prison, so i think its very possible and i havent heard anyone talking about him. It would be a huge surprise by Insomniac.
