After beating dark souls 1 by only leveling resistance, I thought I would try the same in Dark Souls 2, but this time around i’m only leveling ADP! What is ADP you ask? The best dang stat to ever be put into a game…while also being the worst stat. Why is ADP a thing? Anyway, time to find out: Can I beat Dark souls 2 while only leveling ADP?

I wasn't actually going to say anything but since you so expertly called me out anyway, yeah, ADP only is pretty much just SL1 but you can dodge roll better.

I-frames are a trick the game uses to put up the illusion of you dodging successfully. They are NOT meant to be the thing used to avoid attacks. It also compensates for the fact that hitboxes are larger than the visible model. In other words, tying I-frames to a stat is unbelievably moronic. I-frames should be near the same across the board and carefully set up against enemy attacks to maintain the illusion. However, as always, the DS2 developers didn't get the memo. It is why the game is also ridiculously cheap in its attempts to kill you because they thought difficulty and dying were the reasons people liked DS1 and DeS; it's why the firekeepers mock you and say you will die and lose your souls all the time at the start of the game.

As the avid DS2 lover who plays it every week. . .no, we do not wake up excited about Pilgrims of the Dark.
