Cheating in Beat Saber (A Documentary)



I hope it was worth the wait.

I’m having this video specifically focus on Top-Players in each Beat Saber community and everything represented shouldn’t apply to casual players. Though I recommend not using all of the techniques I mention if you want to become a better player, with exceptions of those mentioned with not any major benefit or them having a general acceptance in the community.

I tried to keep the explanation simple and tight, so the video won’t end up being too long, yet can be understood by someone with little to no knowledge about the game! See this video as a guide to different techniques in Beat Saber, while determining if their use-case would be considered cheating or not.

This video took way longer to make and finish than I have first expected.
I set myself way higher goals than I should’ve and really went out of my way when making this video.
I’ve also basically re-designed the entire video mid-through the project and started from scratch again, but I bet the result can see itself now!

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
In the Top- and Bottom-Cheese part I want to give additional credit to murple and kaycee as being top players who play bottom-row vibro without cheese.

Vrmode is now enabled on default going forward from 1.29.4. it doesn’t “remove vrmode”, but instead makes it mandatory to use.

When I was talking about weight distribution on palm grip, the center of mass is slightly offset than shown in the video. In the case of Quest 1/Rift S controllers, that would be slightly more offset to the actual “grip” of the controller. This may differ from controller to controller.

The song used at the prediction part is called “Aran – Chaotic Neutral”!

    9:28 I would just like to apologize for my lapse in judgement. I am one of the content cubes on staff in CC. I will take full responsibility for the play being uploaded as it was me who accepted the play. At the time I was neither involved in the challenge scene as well as being a very new content cube. These attributes do not excuse my actions and I will never remember the flame I got for that videos release. I thought that vibro pass on a faster song modifier was insanely impressive and it never occurred to me that the play was cheesed. I hope we can move on as a community together, forgiving my devastating actions towards the beat saber community as well as the reputation of CC as an organization. I am sorry for any disrespect I might have given to the truly talented players by uploading such a cheesed score. On a final note, please do not blame CC for their ignorance in this event, rather, blame me for my horrific sense of vibro and cheese back then. I am truly sorry
