Spider mites are a common and obnoxious plant pest that most gardeners have to deal with at some point. Luckily I was blessed with a massive infestation of spider mites which allowed me the opportunity to demonstrate how to get rid of spider mites. It has been over a month since my initial spray with the homemade spider mite spray and coating with wiltpruf, no signs of any return, but i check regularly incase I need to smother them again. This is the best method i have found for killing and controlling spider mites. Unfortunately it is not universal, some plants wont do well with an anti-transpirant on them, but I would say it safe and effective for 90% of what is in my plant collection

  1. Hi Jeff! This was very interesting and helpful. WOW, mealybugs last year and spider mites this year! You poor guy! It looks like you've found a good solution to take of both. I wonder if this would work on aphids, too. I had both spider mites and aphids last summer on my outdoor plants. I used Garden Safe Insecticidal Soap and it seemed to work, but this homemade solution would be cheaper if they get bad. Do you ever see where the Wilt Pruf "suffocates" the leaves, or does wiping it off help and do you dilute it enough to prevent this? I love the little elephant on your table. The colors are so bright and pretty. Your other decorations are cute, too. OMGolly, the cactus at the end cracked me up! Thank you so much for sharing!

  2. Hi, I followed your recipe but used what ever alcohol it was in the hand sanitiser dispenser and used olive oil as I had it. Totally got rid of my spider mite infestation a few days ago and haven't seen any since. Brilliant, thanks!

  3. Can you use this on everything besides plants? Will it work for other mites?

  4. Hello. I think I have a problem with Spider mites on my Monsteras (there are small bugs which leave around small brown crap which looks like sawdust).
I read online that peppermint oil, chamomile oil and rosemary oil are good to kill them.
So as I couldn't find the quantities, I've made a mix with 500 ml of water and 10 drops of each of the essential oils.
I haven't used it yet as I'm concerned for the plant. Do you think it makes sense?

  5. My dahlias have spider mites, thanks for the information. I just ordered some need oil. I was desperate and started to spray the leaves with water alcohol spray and whipping down most of the leaves the past couple of weeks.

  6. This video was so good I was taking notes! Thank you so much. I can only seem to control my spider mites. I never seem to get rid of them for good and my plants can’t take constant soap & Neem oil spray.

  7. At what point in this video do you tell us to rinse the plant after spraying this alchohol blend? I sprayed my hibiscus last week with this solution and now my hibiscus is quickly dying. Almost all of my leaves have yellowed and dropped in one week. Frickin pitiful!

  8. I recently found spider mites on one of my plants and then treated all on my plants with this solution. 6 of my plants have died and have had to be thrown out. If you are planing on using this solution… definitely spot test before hand.

  9. Is there a good way to get the wilt pruf off the plant beside just trying with a microfiber towel and water? My plants aren't doing well, that I've treated (several had spider mites). Fiddle is dropping many leaves. So I'm trying my best to get the wilt-pruf off as I feel like it's suffocating the plants 🙁 pretty stressful as these are all large (4-5ft) plants that are now being effected.

  10. Works great! But I recommend buying a more pure form of peppermint oil and reducing the amount and then add vegetable or olive oil. I buy the Now brand on Amazon and only use 5-10 drops per gallon. It costs a little more upfront, but it will last much long because it's ridiculously strong. Make sure you test it on a leaf you can handle losing!

  11. Another person added hydrogen peroxide 1 percent u can dilute it if it’s 3 percent hydrogen peroxide and it disintegrated the webs

  12. coffee grounds, white vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, or cow milk (lactose intolerant pests) either together or some type of mix get rid of spider mites or other pests?
