Don’t pick your hair by starting from the roots, Wet hair before picking out, gently detangle wet hair with fingers, pick hair out by starting at the ends of your hair.

PSA: For all of the comments about black barbers needing to see this video: Y'all need to learn to comb/pick your own hair. Alot of y'all come in the shop with bad hygiene, including matted, dirty hair and flaked up scalps. Then you expect your barber to make your mess look fresh in 20 minutes or less-and all for $15 with no tip. That's stupid-and a lack of home training. Wash your hair and detangle it before you come in unless you pay your barber to do so. Don't put a bunch of product in your hair, either-gunks up our clippers. Don't come in sweaty from the gym/ basketball court. You stink, and your sweaty scalp gunks up our clippers. Lastly, look at the cape your barber puts on you. If it's covered in flakes, your hygiene game needs to be addressed. All of these things vex a lot of us, so when we have to pick your hair out, maybe a bit of that pain you feel is on purpose 🤣

When I pick my hair I try to start at the top then when I get low to my scalp I love to rub my scalp with the pick and it feels like an orgasm on my head lol but my literal head not my pp head
Found out this was the main reason why the front part of my hair randomly stopped growing at one point. After I stopped raking a pick through it and detangling it with my fingers it rapidly started gaining length.
I find combing is better. Get a food leave in conditioner, and ease through starting at the ends. The smaller teeth of the comb move through easier. Picking is more for styling, so the pick shouldn't go all the way through.
