  1. Fun fact: in my country shea moisture is considered hi-end. So, cheap products really CAN be good. Half of it is just marketing and the expensive fragrances.

  2. This is so American. Why do Americans need the information on hair products for what type of hair it is? Use your bloody brain! Educate yourself!
Oils and butters are for dry and curly hair. Panthenol and Keratin strengthen hair etc. etc. It´s not rocket science!

  3. Just FYI, you need to use them several times to see a difference. The leave in conditioner with honey yogurt and mafura oil actually healed my overprocessed dry brittle breaking fried hair. I couldn’t believe it. I thought I would have to cut it off, but now it feels soft and normal.

  4. Their REFORMULATION sucks: I’m a male. Been using the Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner for a while now. In my last purchase recently: I noticed that the shampoo does not have that natural, rich, awesome smelling, white and creamy consistency anymore. They’ve changed it to a shiny, clearer and watered-down formula that really feels like any other shampoo out there. But the worst thing is: IT’S MAKING MY SCALP ITCH LIKE CRAZY. The original formula was the complete opposite: it used to be so invigorating and moisturizing. They have failed to realize that they’re actually dealing with chemicals here. That those ingredients actually affect people’s pH balancing and levels. They think it’s a game that will go un-noticed. I’M GOING TO RETURN THE ITEM: and I will not buy it again if they don’t change it.

  5. I was on a budget for a while and was using drugstore products like shea moisture. Nope they are awful for your hair! I understand others are on budgets as well but drugstore products are terrible. They swell your hair shaft to make your seem healthy when it isn’t.

  6. I have found that silicone is a huge problem for my hair only because of the water in my house. We have very hard water and the silicones seem to make the hard water build up a lot worse and make the hard water deposits stick to my hair and get trapped in my roots. I have very fine thin hair too.

  7. I have type one hair and the shea moisture manuka honey shampoo works well and the thing you said about it probably being better for a dry scalp is true. My scalp is a bit dry but the shampoo works well with it. I haven’t tried the conditioner but the leave in conditioner is incredible. My hairs kinda on the medium thickness and the leave in conditioner makes my hair look soft and feels soft

  8. Hi Abbey, first of all, love your content and have been following you for some time have incorporated a lot of your tips in my hair and skincare routine 🥰 I recently started following wavy/curly girl method and just rewatched this video and it made me realize couple of things that might be interesting for you. The way you use these type of products is a bit different from how you’d use the silicone products. Variant 1: many type 2 and type 3 girls use the conditioner first to detangle (first with fingers and then with brush like tangle teezer), so shampoo, and then again conditioner. Or variant 2: shampoo, and then condition, but again detangle and brush through while you have conditioner in your hair. Using «squish to condish» method would be great to make sure product is absorbed by your hair. Wait for 3-5 min for it to work then wash it off. It results in silky smooth hydrated hair. For extra dry hair, leave in is also applied while hair is soaking wet. This would not result in snarly hair 😉

From my research from what I understand:
    1) most of the products you tried (except manuka honey &yogurt) are formulated for very dry curly/coily hair. On hair which is type 1 or 2 most of the Shea moisture is super heavy and will build up over time if not used with sulfate/clarifying shampoo. Btw, looking at your hair, I do believe that your hair is actually more wavy then straight 😄

    2) it takes time for hair to adjust to no silicone regime. My first time washing with no silicone products was as it is for you (resulting in snarly hair, which I never had using silicones) however after ca a month (i wash one a week same as you), my hair adjusted and now my hair loves these products, and I don’t even need to brush it out when it is dry. It probably would take less time if I would have washed my hair more often 😅

    3) what can be great for type 1 and 2 hair – is Shea moisture deep conditioners like Black Castor oil one. That one is great for balanced moisture and proteins. Another one from Manuka honey and yogurt line is also popular but it is very protein heavy and cannot be used too often not to end up on protein overload state 🙂

Thank you again for review and sacrificing your budget and hair for us. Have a great day! 😄

  9. i'm wondering because your hair is pretty much a loose wave why exactly you're using products meant for 3a hair and reviewing them as people with actual 3a hair won't rly benefit from it

  10. These products are great, but I really wish they made the intended hair type clear on the packaging. I was having lots of issues with these products, until I learned I was using a product intended for type 4C hair! No wonder it didn't work for me.

  11. One of the best Shea moisturizer is the African bamboo soap and conditioner. This is one of the best products, it really keeps my hair clean and soft. I mixed it with Shea moisture and surface 8 as well

  12. Thank you for the video! I have type 2 hair and trying to demystify Shea Moisture products. My hair seems to be the complete opposite of yours – it responds very well to protein but silicones dry out and destroy it so I avoid anything with silicones. I love the coconut and hibiscus leave in and stylers, but the shampoo and conditioner is just a bit too heavy (it makes my hair unbelievably soft, but weighs down my waves). Maybe the Manuka Honey and Yogurt would be good for me to try?

  13. Good. Morning,. Please. What. Brand. Of. Shear. Moisture. Best. Good. And. Suitable. For. Virgin. Natural. Hair

  14. i am definitely not here to tell you how to manage your own hair but on the off-chance that it might be helpful – i found that if i used conditioner and other creams/masks when my hair was sopping wet (like not even pressing or squeezing any water out at all), then i had more success in retaining moisture and avoiding tangles

  15. I use the deep moisture shampoo bottles and they make my hair and scalp super soft and my my hair super shiny and wavy because I have waves and they make my hair pop out a lot 🙂

  16. Hair ingredients isn't always the case but it is for me if I even try not natural hair products it'll fry my hair as if I just dyed it!! Silicone is a huge issue and sulfates..

  17. When they say natural, they’re talking about BLACK hair and not using relaxers to straighten our hair. This is what happens when products that are for us leave our market.

  18. Some time ago I tried one of the masks and the spray. Neither worked for me. I just got another mask to give it another try. We'll see. I think my hair works better with silicone.

  19. So I have wavy hair that is bleached, similar color to yours. I tried Manuka Honey and Yogurt, and my hair felt like straw!! I couldn't get a wet brush through the conditioner. I didn't know this was protein stuff either. My hair was a rats nest! couldn't get a wide tooth comb through it. Can you recommend a more natural clean shampoo and conditioner? I am struggling to find something with any slip to it, that doesn't weigh down my fine hair. I am not opposed to silicone's, since I try to do a cleansing shampoo once a week, we have hard water too.
Sooooo, I am searching for wavy products for wavy bleached hair. My hair doesn't like protein, or aloe, they make it feel like straw. Anyone have any recommendations??

  20. So I want to make sure that I am doing this right ✅️ I am applying to the hair the Shea moisture strengthen & restore treatment masque and I don't have a hair dryer so can I use a blower instead and should I just use a plastic cap.

  21. Please reply asap 🙏 please send me a response for this is the best time since I am in the process 🙏
