  1. Enjoyed. You inspired me to pull out my sample of this scent from Chanel. So I smell awesome to go to sleep. I like your comment that fragrance is really therapy. So true.
PS – shoe sale is still on at Chanel and scored one last pair today at 40%. I can't believe how amazing the leather is on the shoes. I grind it's either lam skin or goatskin. Anyway, the shoes are just beyond in quality. Still trying decide which bag will be the best. Maybe a gold chevon woc with matching gold peep toes shoes. (Just an idea I came up with today). To be continued. Your videos are so helpful and informative. I love you add the history as well. Take care.

  2. Death in Venice…YES you hit it right on the head with that allusion. I grew up in Southern California surrounded by gardenias so for me …yes it is a joyous and comforting scent. The mix of heat and smog and gardenias is my perfume of my dreamer's childhood. Also it reminds me of the Movies, Film Noir and to be specific, Joel Cairo (Peter Lorie) in The Maltese Falcon. I just know and believe he was wearing Chanel Gardenia in that film. So it carries many stories and memories for me, glamour, danger, death and romance all in that little bottle. Here …I give you Joel Cairo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGuNGXmQZSE

  3. Wonderful review Dacob! I read somewhere that physiologically, our smell receptors are directly linked to the amygdala (and physically closer to the amygdala than our other sensory receptors) which is the site in the brain that triggers emotional reactions to our environment. So your philosophy of perfume can also be proved by science (but personally philosophy resonates more for me). Thanks for a very poetic review!

  4. Hi Dacob, so I went into the Chanel store for Vogue's fashion night out and checked out a Chanel costume jewellery brooch. It was Chanel capital letter metal outline brooch and I turned it around and it didn't have the little plaque that usually comes with the vintage Chanel costume jewellery. Do you when did they stop adding it on? Or they still continue and just this particular style doesn't have one?

  5. Fantastic review. Now, I completely sure in my wish to try it. You're interesting blogger in full meaning of this word. Thanks for your amazing effort to do real video.

  6. Dacob, dear, what a wonderful review. It means so much more when learning about it, and I checked this video as this is another sample I am trying. For me, you are right it is a likable perfume and pleasant and something i would wear, but not the absolute favorite. i think the flower and coconut smell and weight would make me want to wear it outside in summer perhaps on a vacation –and there is a happiness to it. Perhaps the feeling that we need to enjoy the moment, as you mentioned as things are transient.

  7. Hello dear Dacob! hope you're doing well, and recovering gracefully from the year end blues:) I wanted to share my experience of the edps with you especially Gardenia edp which i tried yesterday… what to say? i never tried the edt (!) but i was shocked; the edp smells like a cheap fruit and jasmine tropical shampoo… cant imagine the edt smelled like that? it has no base whatsoever and similar to moringa from the bodyshop. I took it home on a paper strip and my family who now are familiar with the entire Chanel range, said it smelled bad and cheap.I also tried Sycomore edp, which is less smoky, vetiver-ish, and more mainstream. Whatever Chanel! The big shock was 31 rue cambon, when the SA sprayed it on my wrist i told her that's 1932! Fruity ylang (pear jasmine like) and no woods and chypre notes anywhere in sight. Crazy shit going on with those edps! Coromandel seemed the least affected by the change.disappointed indeed. xoxo

  8. Dacob, how about exposing it to light more, just like you did it with bois des iles?Great review;as always.

  9. To me, a live gardenia smells of cookies, makes me want to eat the flower 🌸

  10. They’re Chanel, why the ugly bottles? I’m tired of Chanel’s ugly perfume bottles.

  11. I think it smells like cheap perfumed soap or lotion, just like #5. It turns powdery and it doesn’t last even an hour on my skin. I don’t like the powdery dry down after only half an hour. I do love a few of Chanels exclusives perfumes and own a few of the larger size bottles, but I do not like all of Chanel’s perfumes Some, like this one, are a huge disappointment. I’m also pissed off at all the damn reformulations. Chanel raising prices and lowering the perfumes quality is making me not want to buy anything Chanel anymore. It’s despicable of such a prestigious house. Is it greed? I don’t know. But I guarantee they are and have been losing loyal customers.
Off topic….I do love your hair, very sexy imho 💕

  12. Very fond of the plant Gardenia. Never tried Chanel’s version of that delightful fragrance. Thank you for the profound review xx

I use very few perfumes: Chanel’s No. 19 Poudré, Prada’s Iris, Paul Smith’s Rose. That’s about it. I also love something as simple as Lush’s Dirty (spearmint, sandalwood, thyme and lavendel oil)

I was told once by a Greek yiayia (nan) that if you pick a Gardenia flower, place it in a small bowl of water (floating) in your bedroom you will have the deepest relaxing sleep ever.
    I did. It worked!

  13. I love the Gardenia – I wore it in the 80s and like the version today. What I didn't know was the Chanel logo inside the cap…thanks!!! (I live in South Carolina and grow gardenias!)

  14. Hi Dacob, I bought a 75ml of Gardenia yesterday at the chanel boutique. The scent is beautiful and elegant ❤

  15. Gardenia is my favorite smell, and I would have a gardenia flower hanging from my nose if I could. I have been on the search for that pure fragrance forever, and it doesn’t exist in perfume. I have had many disappointments and wasted a lot of money. Can someone refer me to someone who has done gardenia reviews that DOES appreciate the scent of the flower?

  16. Love your review. I don’t find this to be super gardenia compared to the actual flower. It’s beautiful and I like that it doesn’t have the Chanel aldehydes like almost all the other Les exclusifs but I think others do a more realistic gardenia and do it better…

  17. Более ублюдочного описания этого парфюма, я в жизни не слыхивал… хоспадииии….какие уроды… такие мерзкие ассоциации, и с такими прекрасными духами..

  18. I low key want fakes for the decor really cause Chanel’s perfumes aren’t for everyone but they look lovely … I’m here for the aesthetic
