Queen Mother, Natural Hair OG, @Naptural85, has finally released her coveted African Black Soap Shampoo in her popular haircare line, Melanin Haircare. This recipe was inspired by her MEGA-POPULAR DIY Homemade Natural Shampoo With African Black Soap that she shared on her channel over four years ago: https://youtu.be/zr9D0LNVZwc.

In this video, I recreated the DIY recipe and compared it to the *NEW* Melanin Haircare African Black Soap Reviving Shampoo. And the results were interesting…. Check out this video for my HONEST THOUGHTS!

  1. Thank you for the honest review. Naptural85 is the queen mother of the natural hair community. I have been following her for more than 8 years. I have copies and enhanced her recipes and used them to create my own. Although I will not be purchasing this product for several reasons, I feel that you really did a quality review in comparing the original diy recipe to the manufactured shampoo. Thank you again.

  2. Thank you very much for your unbiased opinions, they are the best <3 Also, at the 10:41 mark, you look so fucking adorale lol

  3. I like whitney and I think her products are okay definitely not actively harmful like devacurl but I think what your paying for Is the parasocial relationship and convenience. If you follow her diy instead you would save a lot of money and honestly have a better product.

  4. I haven’t tried the shampoo yet, but Ive been using her DIY shampoo since 2016. She really made a statement with that DIY. I cut my hair in 2018 and confidently grew it back out knowing I could go back to the DIY. Don’t sleep on naptural85

  5. If you hadn’t used her 7-oil in your DIY ‘poo, then your argument about slip, etc, would have held more weight, with me. But thanks for an honest review.

  6. The DIY recipe with some bentonite clay is alllllllll that! Ive got my Ulta order in! Love your channel too!

  7. Thanks for your honest reviews! I’m curious to try Melanin but the bottles are too big for my needs. Gonna try out the DIY eventually though!

  8. I don’t have African Black soap in my country.
Is there like an alternative maybe charcoal soap?

  9. I swear by black soap, that stuff is magic. I buy Dudu Osun for myself because I like the brand but I do recommend the raw stuff to noobs for obvious reasons. I personally find the Dudu Osun more stripping that the raw soap, I think that's weird but… meh

  10. I think in general a DIY will always be best…for a treat I’d definitely buy the Melanin shampoo 😍

  11. I’m a natural hairstylist, and I just bought the shampoo today! I figured I needed to have one in my lineup because my clients come in once a month or two and may not even be clarifying. So now I have something to really clean the scalp! I appreciate your review, wish me luck!

  12. I saw that you use the Melanin Oil Blend in your DIY. Do you think it would be safe to add Tea Tree essential oil to my Melanin Oil Blend?

  13. I thought I was trippn. My hair felt stripped also. It was very clean. But, it was not moisturizing. I like her line. It's just the shampoo that is a little extra for my hair. Peace and Blessings!

  14. Idk about you but the line is the shit… and worth every penny.

  15. I can only use this if I have a lot of buildup or a day I might straighten my hair because it gets you sqeaky clean!!!

  16. Yep, too late! Naptural85 gave us a good recipe. Why buy it for $30. I make it myself. Plus, I don’t like tea tree oil.

  17. Great review! That melanin shampoo is deffo not for weekly use! After two consecutive uses, my hair was crispy and needed extensive steaming sessions to force the moisture back in! Deffo going to try the diy!! Thanks girl

  18. Hello everyone hope we can remember our saviour Jesus Christ of Nazareth who came to die for our sins. May we seek him while he may be found and repent of our sins for the kingdom of God is at hand. Have a blessed day his grace is sufficient for us all.
