Thank you everyone! So blessed to have had Chris and Erin there and to have had the outcome we did
Out of curiosity, what does "cleared for the option" mean?
Fantastic job from everyone involved
That's character building for sure!
I can say ever who her CFI was– great job
Amazing how cool the ATC and the other pilots stay, great reassurance for the pilot in trouble, she sure is doing great.
HUZZAH! HUZZAH! HUZZAH!
Welp. I found my instructor
3EJ did a great job, even though he was the first to offer help as an instructor and followed Taylor he stayed quiet and did not let his ego get in the way, he let Chris take over once he realized Chris was talking to Taylor and she was comfortable with Chris. Great job everyone!
Outstanding work by this pilot, the tower, and observers. And the instructor who talked her down was amazing. Great job all around!
Noice!
Chris is a rock star. well done Taylor.
Fabulous job by Taylor and, of course, Chris behind her…👍👍
It's amazing how 7SU even complimented the tower (8:56) — never heard of this before and that fascinates me
No Kudos to the tower, you were only in the way… Sorry.
Got my PPL at PTK. Great job by all.
This was really amazing to follow how well the guidance was by all. I like the ATC communication of Taylor. Any follow up on why her plane lost the nosewheel?
Didn’t know the Katana DA-20 had mixture?
This video makes me wonder if Taylor had previously watched the video documentary about the Gimli Glider about an Air Canada flight from Montreal to Vancouver and was short of fuel. The plane was unable to make it to Winnipeg airport so an unused airport at Gimli became the destination but the hydraulics failed and the nose landing gear would not drop. An interesting video.
Chris is the hero we didn't know we all needed. What a dude! Calm and supportive. Way to go Taylor! Way to go Chris! and Way to go Tower!
I like Chris
Okay this was awesome!! And dude talked her down just like he was talking his own daughter down. Apparently aviators are like truckers. One big family. Even if y'all don't always get along.
Maggie and Taylor, girls of no wheel landing club. 😀 well done girl
Taylor is Awesome! Wisdom and bravery beyond her years. Best part is, shes just starting, imagine in the future this young girl bringing in something like an a380 full of people with a bum nose wheel. Cool as ice. What a legend!
We can safely say that approach and landing experience is about equal to a couple hundred hours of flight time and a few dozen rotations. Nothing is a better instructor than a half gallon of adrenaline blasting through your brain. The penultimate of"wake up and get with the program!!!" calls.
I had a similar experience driving my bosses vintage Thunderbird on a wide open desert highway. Coming up to a 4 way stop with traffic ahead and what no? No brakes! Nada. And I'm doing over 60 MPH. Gather my wits and grit my teeth, fancy highway sled, we are going to take a trip off road into 4 wheel drive country.
Phone call: "Hey boss, fantastic highway cruiser but one little problem. I left it buried in a sand dune. You go get it. I'm still shaking."
Gee Taylor’s radio calls are better than most people I hear. Wow 3rd solo and her radio calls are on point.
