Hi fellow dog lover!🐶 My dog Billie had so many behavior problems… she was jumping, peeing inappropriately, overly aggressive, pulling on the leash… she was just crazy…🤪 Then I found this one solution that stopped all the problems!🙌 The sad fact was…The training I first tried with my dog was a complete fai…lure.😔 I went through the average cookie-cutter training programs. These programs used outdated and ‘mean’ dominance techniques. It turns out those programs had no qualifications and were developed by complete phonies.😱 So this is what I did to stop my dog’s behavior problems… In a few simple words… I discovered my dog’s hidden intelligence!🧠
Let me explain… In my years as a dog owner…this is the one big lesson I have learned. More intelligent dogs are better behaved.👍 A more intelligent dog takes commands easier…and understands what you need from them. What I found out was… No matter how clever I thought my dog was. I could still unlock my dog’s hidden intelligence quickly and easily!😄 Don’t waste a second longer putting up with your dog’s behavior problem! I’ll explain everything you need to know in the link!😁

Nice..👍
Ok
basenjis can bark! mine barked a few times
Cool
Basenjis are not beginniner dogs. They are very stubborn and strong willed. I wouldn't say they are necessarily dog friendly, but in my experience they love humans and food. Please don't take them offleash unless you're in a safe area, they have very strong prey drives. A lot of them get hit by cars. 🙁
That said, basenjis are amazing dogs with such quirky personalities and are my favorite breed. <3
Basenjis are not good with kids, they are really sensitive about their ears and specially their tail, as it is curled, it is one of the most attractive things for the small kids, who want to touch it or try to make it straight. They are not for everybody.
I wish they had a longer life expectancy. I'd like to breed them with a Rat Terrier. I think that would be a good mix.
So cuteeeee
I have like this dog but my bro says its not basenji
First of all we breeders in Australia DO NOT sell our breed to just anyone!! Your lifestyle is utmost IMPORTANT! If you and your family work more than three days a week or more and your house is unattended all day. FORGET IT you will not in no way in Hell get your hands on our Breed. Basenjis are better in pairs they don’t take kindly to being alone and have the need for human companionship 24/7. But they will want quiet times to be left alone especially when sleeping NEVER WAKE OR DISTURB THEM they will not take kindly to that. They are a special breed and are very protected from people who only want to buy them in the beginning as it is a novelty for them. After about 6 to 12 months the novelty wears off and the breed will pick up on the lack of attention it is getting and all hell will break lose tearing up things stealing things off benches growling etc. Basenjis are not for everyone you could say 75% of people maybe more would not be suitable for this Beautiful breed. I have shown bred and owned Basenjis for 40 years and if you are the right person YOU ARE PRIVILEGED to have this breed not the breed privileged to have you!!
Fun fact. They are the best breed ever.
Walk and play with them for at least 30 minutes a day? 30 min is nothing.. Our first walk in the morning is around 40 min and then he gets two or three more depending on what we have been up to that day. I often let him have a good run next to my bike once a day, play with him and hide treats for him to find. We also do obedience training and I make sure that he gets to play with another dog atleast once a week.
Yes, this dog needs alot of exercise, but I would feel bad for ANY dog just getting one walk a day. I live in Sweden and up here people put a lot of time into their dogs. I've noticed that alot of people in (for example) USA, don't really take their dogs for 3+ walks a day? It's really bothering me. Poor dogs.
My daughter wants one
in my home this dog is there❤️
I found a little baby in jax beach. Sweetest little thing, smart(not like a Aussie Cattle) but still up there, includes everything you need, sitting, staying, go, etcetc. Mine doesn't bark nor Yodel at all. Even when small she would rough house with the big dogs, but if I walk by with a box or door gate, she's terrified idk, not of thunder which is good
Hi everyone we have been looking for a puppy tricolor for about a year and a half .. I got taken at craigslist for $1600. It has become so difficult. I spoken to professionals that only breed champions. . I have spoken to all the breeders we could find a puppy near-or far and around the country. I’ve had no luck except one lady in California She had thought that her dog was pregnant. After ultrasound she was very disappointed , because of the money that She spent and that. she wasn’t going to have new puppies. That was the last of our conversation I have not heard anything back after several emails. She was very professional until, she realized that the dog was not pregnant. I just hope she didn’t fall sick.If anyone can help me and my family to get a puppy tricolor. We will be very grateful. My family needs it and I’m slowly starting to lose interest because of the difficulties. Please help us find a puppy .
Much appreciate it, stay blessed
No such thing as BCE. It’s BC and AD.

Basenji dog don't like rain
My Basenji Luke was so hardheaded when I got him from the Humane Society. What I did that seemed to solve all of his behavioral problems was just to disappear. Sounds weird but when he couldn't see, smell or hear me anymore he would come find me lickity split. That opened the door to complete obedience for him. These dogs are so lovey to whoever they acknowledge as "leader of the pack" but you have to be recognized as the leader if you want them to cooperate. They don't like vets, rain, dark, doorbells, UPS people, strangers petting them, etc. They do like baths, brushing, their safe spot, a closet to hide in when it rains, riding in trucks, running, chasing squirrels, cuddling with their pack leader, etc. They are super great dogs if you are recognized by them as the leader otherwise it's a tough road ahead. They want you to be touching them as much as possible. If you put your hand on them when they are laying down they are off to sleep in seconds, must be an "I know where you are and I feel safe" thing. I've had several dogs over my 68 years and Luke the Basenji is a real trip and nothing like any other dog I've ever known. He's more like having a 100 pound cat.
I heard they are not good with cats…and I have a 2 year old. Should I be concerned?
The 30 minutes a day rule doesn't work with most dogs, let alone hunting dogs. I used to walk my Shiba 30 minutes to two hours three or four times a day and he never got tired.
Yes they are territorial, yes they are natural born hunters, no you should not leave them alone with other pets, unless you properly introduced them to one another. Yes they are extremely intelligent so they will get bored easy. Yes they are escape artists. No you shouldn’t bathe them regularly, due to the fact that they groom them selves like a cat.
So I had a shins inu for 13 years. She was a red sesame and very beautiful. She rarely barked and usually had to be coaxed to speak with a treat. She hated rain but loved snow. Very smart and active. Loved to be with me (the pack leader) and around the kids even though she rarely played with the kids, she was very protective of them. Never aggressive and listened very well. She was very much like a cat in the cleaning herself and hated baths and water. It seems to me like Basenji and shiba inus are very similar. Would this be a correct assumption?
I think you should delve a bit more into the breed before posting something like this 🙈
they are not great with other dogs and i wouldnt advise housing them with small children (toddlers) they dont like to be pulled at or disturbed while sleeping ,i own a basenji girl and have met many other owners along the way that share these very views . THIS BREED IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS OR FIRST TIME OWNERS but can make a loving pet and great addition to your home if you know what your doing ,sorry for the rant but seen too many being rehomed due to poor research on the breed
My basenji was not a fan of strangers and was definitely not a patient dog. She was iffy on other dogs, I had to stop taking her to dog parks as she was too rough on dogs smaller than her. She was a little whirlwind and mischievous and was very very attached to me and I miss her very much.
1) My wonderful Basenji of 15 years, would not tolerate baths. Our breeder said DO NOT BATHE A BASENJI because of their cat-like natural behavior of cleaning themselves. It is NOT necessary unless they get sprayed by a skunk or roll around in poop. I think viewers need to know this fact. Your Basenji could really grow to resent you for forcing them to endure this.
2) Basenjis DO NOT TOLERATE ROUGH HANDLING from children. Their survival and hunting instincts kick in and they could nip your child. ALSO, Basenjis don't mean to harm but it is only a DEFENSE RESPONSE.
3) Basenjis are aloof to strangers UNTIL they get to know you. Do not assume your Basenji will like everyone. Basenjis are not like the Labrador or Golden Retriever. Not all Basenjis like all dogs. Basenjis need a moment to check out another dog just like humans di, and build trust. You can't force Basenjis to like another dog. Let them approach you.
4) Make sure you have the right facts from an AKC APPROVED BREEDER. Basenjis are a rare breed that can capture your heart if treated properly. Make sure you train them with only POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT, and RESPECT their INTELLIGENCE and you will have a wonderful companion. 😀
My basenji actually bark's
My dog is an African basenji he was dieing in africa because he wasn’t aloud to eat he was also trained to hunt rodents and to protect chickens because the Africans needed the food that he would hunt and eggs from the chickens Roderick didn’t get any food but when my older sister went to Africa she found roddy and saved his life roddy now lives with me he’s happy and loves to sing to the piano
So much of this is grossly misleading. It’s really important that people have reliable information when choosing a dog for their lifestyle. I recommend people get their information elsewhere.
Basenji’s can’t handle the cold, so be sure to get them a stylist red smoking jacket.
👍
There are many other dogs that are easier. I had one, it was always trying to kill itself.
my best friend
My basenji would bark, but only once. She'd give a single short sharp baek and then commence with the yodeling.
My basenji actually Barks and whines and she has yodel a few times
