●About this temple
Kobo Daishi, who visited this place, led villagers in building embankments and teaching the secret method of sand and earth to quell the flood of the river caused by the evil spirits that haunted this village.

It is said that Enmei Jizo appeared on the day of the full vow and Daishi carved his statue and built a temple, which is the beginning of this temple.
The temple’s name is derived from ‘Nyonin Yasan,’ the first of the Enmei Jizo 10 great vows.
The sango Kinrin-yama is the name of the mountain behind it, but it was originally located at the top of this mountain.

In 824, Shichidogaran was completed as a place of imperial prayer by Emperor Junna and became a large temple with 10 temple buildings, but the temple’s fortunes declined due to repeated fires caused by wars and was relocated to its current location.

●Point to watch around
Six statues of Buddha, Kongo Rikishi, and Binzuru Sonja: Outside the white wall, there are six statues of Buddha, and beside the main hall, there are statues of Kongo Rikishi and Binzuru Sonja, who is said to have been a disciple of Shaka.

Fukomatsu and Sango no Matsu: The Fukomatsu near the Daishido is a pine tree that was planted by Kobo Daishi when he built a temple.
It died, and now the old stump is left, and the young plant is planted beside it.
Sanhu Pine is a white-skinned pine native to China, characterized by three separate leaves that sprouted from seeds brought back from Xian, China.

There is a famous “Tamasumi-san no Kusunoki” tree with a height of about 22 meters and branches of about 30 meters near the other name Dai-Kusunoki.
It is said to have Tamasumi-ko’s gravestone at its base.
Although Tamasumi-ko ruled Uma County, he succeeded his father to become the lord of Ochi County and made an effort to unify and reclaim the Ochi County region, and this great camphor is said to be his grave marker.
