Strange Rocks of the Echizen Coast! A Scenic Walk around Hokojima, Japan 4K HDR

Hokojima, towering on the Echizen Coast in Fukui Prefecture, is a giant rock of columnar jointing about 50 meters high. It was formed by volcanic activity and erosion from rough waves approximately 15 million years ago. Its name comes from its shape resembling a “hoko” (halberd). A promenade is maintained, allowing you to climb to the top, where there is a small shrine dedicated to Fudo Myoo (Acala). Below, the magnificent Sea of Japan spreads out, offering a view of nature’s artistic beauty. There is also a similar small island nearby. It’s a spot you’ll definitely want to visit when sightseeing in Echizen.
