Atami is a popular get-away destination and an easy day trip from Tokyo. Known for its onsen, or hot springs, it’s a great place to relax and enjoy the seaside. It is also home to some great street food! In today’s video, Shizuka takes us around two popular shopping streets, Ekimae Heiwa Shopping Street and Nakamise Shopping Street, to sample Amtami’s best snacks!

Shizuka tries a wide variety of senbei, or rice crackers, and some traditional sweets like onsen manju (sweet steamed buns). She also is surprised by a sweet mix of Japanese and western flavors in the popular Atami Butter An, and by some -interesting- spicy ice cream. Shizuka also attempts to make onsen tamago, aka eggs soft boiled in the steam of the onsen, on the side of the road! Watch to find out our recommendations for the best street food in Atami!

  1. What a lovely town to stroll around and the snacks looks interesting… used to go Tokyo every year and like taking Day Trips to nearby towns… hope to return this year 😂

  2. By far favorite food channel 🤟🔥 I cant wait to visit Japan one day & try a bunch of restaurants you & your team have recommended.

  3. All the food looks amazing. Even the pepper ice cream 🍦

  4. The food looks delicious – the red bean bread and shiitake fish ball. Salt on hard boiled eggs is soo British. 😆

  5. omg the roadside onsen tamago spot is so cool! cooking with nature! amazing!

  6. Can you tell me in English what you say before you take a bite please?

  7. Oh my God! It's all OISHII (it's delicious). Just as it is important to be appreciative, it is also respectful to be complimentary of the food. If your meal is delicious, then let people know by saying OISHII, which is an enthusiastic term to communicate that the food you're eating is good. Another phrase often used by men, UMAI, can also be said after the first bite to express the deliciousness of a meal. Happy hungry! Cheers, Domenico.

  8. This area is awesome! The street food there looks soooooo good! Respect to Shizuka for her food and taste explanations. Made me want to try the food even more! Mad respect Japan By Food! These tour videos are Ultra!

  9. That Senbei fish cracker I love them especially the octopus 🐙 ones!!!! 🍺👌🏼
Love love love these food vids!!!!!👍🏻

  10. I like spicy and salty, and if with enough sugar, spicy and sweet (like hot cinnamon and Mexican chocolate). But that yuzu pepper soft serve doesn’t sound like my kind of taste profile.

  11. I have been to Tokyo, Yokohama and Saitama twice, thus next time I want to explore somewhere else that are popular in street food. Between Osaka & Sapporo, which city do you recommend?

  12. When Shizzy says "I'm just gonna wing it", it's just a nicer way of say "Screw it"! 🤣

  13. Definitely a goal to visit Atami and try that octopus senbei cracker!!!!

  14. That was a perfect hard boil egg. It would have made a perfect Japanese egg salad sandwich, which are epic. So you still did good. Fresno, CA is a long way away…

  15. Onsen Tamago… BTW It's still onsen Tamago because what was made from the onsen water 🤣

  16. 😁❤Your channel is literally my comfort place. You make me so happy. Love you❤❤

  17. This came out at the perfect timing, I am going to Atami soon, and I’m definitely searching for that pepper ice cream!
